Who’s the Boss?

Dear Friend:

Encouragement for this week.

Sometimes things could spin so much out of control around us that we wonder ‘who is the boss?’ ‘Who is in control?’. Ever been in a meeting and the team comes to a vote on a topic and the popular votes become the deciding factor? The unified vote of the people made the decision through ‘popular sovereignty’. It relies on the choices of the people. Here I wish to speak of another kind of sovereignty that clearly defines “Who’s the Boss”.

In the sovereignty of God, He holds the supreme power or authority and needs no vote or consent of anyone!

2 Chronicles 20:6 | … O LORD God of our fathers, art not thou God in heaven? and rulest not thou over all the kingdoms of the heathen? and in thine hand is there not power and might, so that none is able to withstand thee?

So much is left upheaved and uncertain today, but I can rest in the perfect assurance that God is still in control. The Prince of this world is given rulership for a time but even in it all, God is still there as Ruler over all.

Job 12:10 - In whose hand [is] the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind.

Proverbs 16:4 - The LORD hath made all [things] for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.

Sometimes it is difficult to find peace in a world filled with upheaval. We believe that we are without hope and resolve. The very thing we can rest assured in is that though it may not make sense to us, God has a purpose and a plan in everything.

It baffles the mind to know that even during the greatest loss or trial, devastation, depression, or despair, God is still in control!

In and through it all, He says:

Isaiah 45:6-7 - That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that [there is] none beside me. I [am] the LORD, and [there is] none else.

Romans 8:28 | And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.

If we calm our mind and allow the spirit man, the inner man whom God blew into us through our nostrils, to connect with its Spiritual Father, Abba Father, we will find life, hope, joy, peace, power, and purity of love!

Psalms 42:8 | Yet the LORD will command his lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life.

The outer man, made from dust, is always chattering, fearing, doubting and carnal and cannot see the things as the spiritual man does. They contradict each other and the one who is fed more leads our lives.

How can there be hope and destiny before us but we see it not or sense it? It is difficult for the Carnal ‘outer man’ to speak of things it does not fathom [comprehend]!

Isaiah 55:8-11 - For my thoughts [are] not your thoughts, neither [are] your ways my ways, saith the LORD.

The God of heaven, speaks things of mystery. He speaks of life! He speaks of destiny and of perfect hope! He breathes life! Nothing unrighteous can stand in the presence of God and remain unchanged!

Psalms 68:8 | The earth shook, the heavens also dropped at the presence of God: even Sinai itself was moved at the presence of God, the God of Israel.

Howbeit that he speaks these things and guides us into all truth through the inner man. For the spirit man speaks [commune] with the Holy Spirit, his father and the carnal man ‘outer man’ cannot understand the things God speaks of.

It is for that reason we should quiet the outer man that the inner man can connect with the Holy Spirit, the supreme and sovereign God who holds the authority and power over ALL things.

Deuteronomy 4:7 | For what nation is there so great, who hath God so nigh unto them, as the LORD our God is in all things that we call upon him for?

Isaiah 14:24 - The LORD of hosts hath sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, [so] shall it stand:

Isaiah 41:10 - Fear thou not; for I [am] with thee: be not dismayed; for I [am] thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness

Amen!
